March Gallery Highlights

The artist's world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where he
lives or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep.

Hayslette-Hill & Valley #1, 24x36
Welcome back Carrie! After being on the road for six weeks, both the artist and her new pieces have made their way back to the gallery. Take advantage of these early spring days to come by and say hello to Carrie's colorful creatures and sweet miniature spring wardrobe illustrations (see below), mostly painted on the road during her travels to the sunshine. Or perhaps take a stroll through the lush landscapes painted by Max Hayslette and stylized coastal abstractions by Christopher Mathie. If the weather has you down, you can find a piece of spring here in the gallery!

This coming Saturday, March 11, 5-8pm, please mark your calendars for Second Saturday Artwalk! Max Hayslette will be autographing complimentary posters and showing his latest work.  Please join us and all the fine art galleries on Front Street for wine and fun.

Carrie Goller Gallery is currently on winter hours and will be open Thursday through Sunday 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Located in historic downtown Poulsbo, the gallery features a mix of contemporary fine art from small to large-scale, in a variety of media, from paintings to sculpture to mobiles. We work closely with each individual buyer to satisfy their particular needs, including special orders, gift wrapping, shipping, installation or even interior design consultations. If you cannot visit the gallery, please see our online Store at www.carriegollergallery.com.

Wardrobe Collection 3x5

Whether changing from capris to a tailored dress for dinner at home, a ladylike suit for a trip to the local bank, Easter Sunday in hat and gloves, or evening out in my favorite - her gold lamรจ dress, I enjoyed seeing my glamorous mother's outfits.Turquoise, gold, purple, kelly and lime green - she knew how to accessorize for her red hair. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by fashion and began in kindergarten drawing crayon figures with colorful clothing; adding pages of colored pencil fabric swatch drawings in grade school. At 12 I was gifted a 1912 New Home treadle sewing machine and my mother taught me to sew. I later graduated to her Singer and began haunting Esther's Fabric Shop on Bainbridge Island. By high school, I was making my own version of couture; creating three-piece suits- adding chain to the inner jacket lining so it would hang well, pinning my flat-felled seam trousers on inside-out so they would fit like a glove, creating filmy french-seamed dresses cut on the bias, covered buttons and bound buttonholes and hand-sewn lingerie. I taught others to sew and did well in Home Economics. I still own some of my creations as well as some high school fashion illustrations, several of which were actually made into clothing. It seems natural to return to my early artistic endeavors - whether whimsical, vintage or current, I love fashion illustration and hope you enjoy my spring detour. I would like to thank my wondrous mother for encouraging my creativity and for passing on her red hair and freckles. ~Carrie Goller~
